Now it is time to start transferring my design to the fender. But first I would like to say that this is the first time in the 20 or so years that I have been painting that I have been asked to explain a step by step process so when taking the pictures for this I neglected to show me doing the actual transfer it was only pointed out to me by Brian after I had sent him the photos. I can explain the process and I am sure that you will get the general idea and if I am asked again to such an article for you then I will make sure that everything is covered in more detail.

You can see in photo that I have transferred my design to the fender I have simply done this by taping the top of the tracing paper design to the fender and slipping the Saral paper underneath, normally I would use red Saral pa- per for this as in my experience the white Saral paper leaves a lot of residue which for some reason is not that easy to remove, but for photo purposes the white shows up better.

I have started to paint as you can see my first color is sil- ver please remember that patience is a virtue so take your time and give you paint time to dry at least 24 hours. When I paint I do like to complete my lines in one stroke. You can see where some lines are thick and then taper off this is a ques- tion of pressure I am afraid this can only be accomplished by practice and as it is said, if at first you don’t succeed try again it is the only way to do it.

In this photo you can see that my design is complete so now it is a question of letting it dry like I said at least 24 hours. Then all I use is a damp cloth only water no chemicals and wipe down to remove and chalk residue from the Saral paper
