Selling: Hockey

Last but by no means least

The UK is one of the last to see TK Hockey’s 2011 collection but success in other markets gives it confidence, so says the brand’s international sales and marketing manager Colin Burnell.

T

K Hockey is amongst a very select group of hockey brands that can lay claim to being truly global, with a prominent position in and a significant share of every major market around the world, including the UK and Ireland.

The timing of the UK and Irish hockey seasons means this market is amongst the last to see the 2011 collection, but success elsewhere around the world makes TK Hockey confident that its stockists in the UK and Ireland will see a positive response to the updated collection. TK Hockey is known for producing equipment that extends the limits of performance, challenging conventional thinking with innovation and progressive technology, allied to striking design and presentation.

In 2010, the Synergy series of composite sticks introduced two new construction concepts based on nano technology principles. Nano Technology Construction featured multi-layered carbon nanotubes and TK Hockey’s Integrated Dampening System (IDS), while Nano Technology Enrichment incorporated an enhanced reactive liquid polymer resin. In 2011 this series is expanded to include six new models, one at each

grade, featuring new shapes and an updated graphic. There are also two sticks featuring the classic TK Hockey Control Wing Technology, with RRPs starting at £100.

The Core series of senior composite sticks is refreshed in 2011 with different colour options, plus a new entry-level senior model, the TK 6 GTS, with an RRP of £40. The Core series covers the key price points for the majority of hockey stockists, so these new colours along with the lowered entry-level price point will aid confidence in the TK Hockey range with retailers in challenging economic times.

Totally new is the junior composite range with two models featuring a graphic that taps into the aspirational appeal of Synergy. There is also a new wooden junior offering, Twist, with outlandish graphics and colours designed to grab the attention of young shoppers. The company feels this is its strongest junior range to date and great news for all TK Hockey stockists. The Twist theme extends to bags with a single stick bag, two-stick bag and a goalkeeping wheel bag. Twist products also include a new junior shinguard and a special edition practice ball, meaning this mini series offers something really

different for the younger end of the market. Accessories, player protection, balls, teamwear, footwear and goalkeeping ranges are unchanged in 2011, and remain backed by a 24-hour delivery service.

Preparations for 2012 are now complete with significant investment going into developing a new range and a full supporting marketing programme. Presentations have started in the markets that will see this collection first with extremely positive results, so TK Hockey looks forward to introducing this to its UK and Irish stockists early in 2012.
