Buying: Launch Pad Support at the front

Both PureLime and Shock Absorber have launched innovative new sports bras to help women maximise their workouts and sports participation.

PureLime S

candinavian sportswear firm PureLime’s new HRM compression bra allows a heart rate monitor (HRM) to be attached directly to the outside of the bra so women can monitor their workouts without the usual discomfort of using monitoring tools, it says. PureLime claims its sports bras can reduce movement by as much 75 per cent, but the HRM compression bra helps overcome another issue for women ‘serious about getting fit’.

The firm says an ongoing problem with HRM transmitters, particularly for women, is that the chest strap, which until now had had to be worn next to the skin, can prove uncomfortable. The new bra overcomes this by allowing any leading brand of HRM transmitter to be attached to the outside of the bra so it can wirelessly send data to a monitor watch, gym training system or even a mobile phone.

The bra is the result of a collaboration with textile electronics and sensors specialist Clothing+, with the HRM wiring integrated into the lower bra and

universal snap studs allowing the use of all leading HRM

transmitters. It has an RRP of £44.99, and will be available from August, with extra sizes added in mid- October.

Shock Absorber S

The sports bra also features padded and adjustable straps, a padded hook and eye, performance fabrics and an adjustable back fastening which means the sports bra can be worn as either a straight or a racer back style. Shock Absorber UK senior brand manager Kirsty Kothakota says: “From our consumer research we know there are women out there who don’t like the look of sports bras which may be one of the barriers to wearing one. In fact, a shocking 68 per cent of women chose to exercise in their everyday bra. When we asked these women to describe their ideal sports bra they said that it would be an underwire. “Our new titanium underwire sports bra is for all those women out there who want a more lingerie looking sports bra, with an underwire, yet which still has the sports features that give comfort and support.” The Shock

Absorber titanium flexible sports bra will be available from November.

hock Absorber is launching a new flexible underwire sports bra that it says combines a lingerie look with sports features to give comfort and support.

It is the only sports bra on the market to use a titanium flexible underwire, so says Shock Absorber. The titanium memory wire moves and flexes in line with the body to provide support and comfort and is as strong as steel yet lightweight.
