are two layers instead of one. The majority of the friction when kneeling is therefore taken up between the two layers, which means that the external layer has much less movement onto the work surface you are kneeling on. Therefore, holes in the kneepad pocket are much less likely to occur. This means that the lifespan of Jobman trousers is far greater than any other product on the market. The kneepad pockets are bottom loading, with
a lip to hold the kneepad in position. This covers a third of the kneepad, preventing it coming loose. The advantage of a bottom loading kneepad is that nothing can drop into the pocket, so you will not get debris in the pocket and end up kneeling on something uncomfortable. The other advantage is that the seam is hidden, so you are never kneeling on it, which could cause the pocket to come loose. The seam is reinforced with bar-tacks (a special reinforcing type of stitching) on top of the pocket for more durability. The knee pockets have stitching on to keep the pad central to the knee, as well as to shape the pocket so that the kneepad is comfortable to the wearer at all times – pre-bending it for comfort when you are not kneeling. On the hem of the trouser at the heel there is
added polyamide reinforcement that stops water soaking up into the trousers on wet days; it also prevents the trouser catching and ripping.
Kneepads If you need to kneel to work, there is now no reason to suffer the pain of kneeling on sharp or hard objects. Prolonged kneeling
on hard surfaces has led to countless tradesmen of a certain age suffering chronic and acute pain and inflammation of the knee. Prepatel lar Bursi t is, sometimes known as ‘housemaid’s knee’ is one of the conditions suffered by carpenters, electricians, plumbers, carpet fitters and many other trades people. Adequate knee-protection is now commonly
available and can be considered one of the biggest reasons for the huge increase in the popularity of functional garments. CE EN14404 prescribes the necessary
protection against shock absorption, force dissipation and penetration resistance. When the new EN regulations were introduced, Jobman took the opportunity to completely redesign its kneepad, optimising the choice available to users. All pads conform to EN14404, but this is the bare minimum standard. Jobman functional and technical kneepads
are made from a polyethelene material and are uniquely designed to mould around the knee when kneeling, and to be free and light when walking or driving. The advanced kneepad is made from a memory
foam type material that offers unrivalled comfort when kneeling. n Functional Kneepad 9933 £8 – developed for kneeling approximately 1-2 hours per day.
n Technical Kneepad 9934 £11 – developed for kneeling approximately 3-5 hours per day.
n Advanced kneepad 9935 £18 – developed for kneeling approximately 6-8 hours per day.
