communications system, combat information centre with two or three consoles and an integrated bridge system. A machinery control system, believed to be from MTU, is standard. Although small, the combat capabilities

of the new patrol boats are closer to that of a much larger platform, Swiſtships says. A key element is the remotely operated stabilized MSI Defence Systems Seahawk Model DS30M A2 30mm gun with fire control by a MSI-supplied electro-optical director. The stabilized gun mount permits effective engagement of targets in rough seas. Other weapons include a manually

operated 50calibre Browning H2B machinegun and two manually operated M240 light machineguns. Swiftships says that it is possible to install surface to surface missiles on this design with modifications. The 35m CPB has a length of 35.06m, a beam of 7.25m, draſt of 1.1m.

The Al Faw patrol boats were locally built.
