MSC has introduced a portfolio of MEMS oscillators for tablet PCs and E-book readers. Based on SiTime’s SiT8003 low power MEMS oscillator platform, the products are said to be approximately 30 per cent thinner than quartz and up to 10 times more robust. Applications include processors, USB2.0 transceivers, platform controller hubs (PCHs), HDMI SoCs, audio codecs and camera modules.

Micro Crystal’s RV-4162-C7 Real Time Clock Module suits cost-sensitive, high-volume applications that require an ultra-miniature real time clock. The eight pin ceramic package contains a 32.768kHz crystal, CMOS-based oscillator and real-time-clock circuitry. At room temperature, frequency and time keeping is within ±20ppm with an operating temperature range of -40 to 85°C. Aging rate is a maximum of +3ppm for year one.
Self-contained, the RV-4162-C7 can save
engineering, procurement and inventory costs. External dimensions are 3.2 by 1.5 by 0.8mm. The device is RoHS compliant and 100 per cent lead free.
