Highlights
Aquabound is a Canadian manufacturer of kayak paddles and the Edge canoe paddle. The Edge is a full-sized canoe paddle featuring a curved blade to deliver maxi- mum power with every stroke. Good for whitewater or for paddlers who like a really big blade. Open boaters and C1 paddlers alike enjoy the smooth, stable feel of the Edge—not to mention the unbeatable price/weight combination. The injection-moulded T-grip handle allows for comfort and precise control. Available in fibreglass or carbon construction.
In 1982, Bending Branches pioneered the marriage of composites and fine wood paddles with a DuPont Kevlar 49 paddle tip that revolutionized the paddle industry. Rockgard, as this is known, is standard on most Branches paddles. The Explorer is a favourite for wilderness tripping, designed with a nine-laminate wood blade for paddlers looking for a superb straight wood paddle. The Performer bent-shaft is a large and tough yet lightweight paddle which delivers optimal performance. The pop- ular 14-degree bend is ideal for cruising on flatwater.
Echo paddles are custom-made to order, handcrafted in small numbers from sustainably harvested wood. Although you will still find the trademark hockey sticks in an Echo paddle shaft, the construction has undergone many new developments over the years. Double-tapered and bent wood shafts, Dynel shaft wraps and edging, and steel tips are just some of the features now offered. A fine balance of strength and light weight have resulted in elegant paddles that are a pleasure to use.
This family-owned and operated company was founded in 1990 and is located in the heart of Europe, the Czech Republic. Galasport is a #1 name in slalom paddle and boat manufacturing and design. Many of the world’s best racers are directly involved with the designing of new products. In 2002, the C1 Demon paddle, on its maiden international voyage, took third place at the Pre-World's in Graz, Austria. The Dihedral-shaped blade, with an incredible backstroke, was designed specifically for rodeo competition.
Established in 1976, Grey Owl Paddles produces state-of-the-art wooden canoe paddles at competitive prices. We continue to lead the industry with features such as our unique herringbone veneer design or our models with complete or partial urethane plastic edging. With 24 different models, no mater what style of paddling you prefer, or what your size, there is a Grey Owl paddle that will fit in your hand and “sing” in the water.
The Mohawk paddle is constructed of a high-impact plastic blade and grip and anodized aluminum shaft. It combines performance, durability and no maintenance at a reasonable price. The 8x20” blade comes in a T or pear grip. The shaft diameter of 1-1/8” seems the most comfortable size for most hands. A plastic shaft grip elimi- nates aluminum oxide “rub-off” and cold hands in cool weather. This paddle is lightweight (about 28oz avg.) and floats horizontally in the water. Over one million sold.
North Woods Canoe Comany Ltd. manufactures a wide range of paddles, available in synthetic and quality handcrafted wood. Synthetic paddles are available in full or partial clad shaft, choice of colour, and choice of T or palm grip. Extremely durable. Full range of lengths. Wood paddles are handcrafted and available in six different woods, laminated in a variety of configurations, or one-piece classics with resin tips, palm grip. Available in beavertail, stern, ottertail and voyageur styles.
Red River paddles are a premium, high-quality paddle. They are not mass-produced, but rather crafted by highly skilled paddle makers for discriminating paddlers whose needs are not being met by factory paddles. Our lakewater tripping paddles start with traditional designs. We offer a wide variety of blade shapes and grips. Any grip may be matched to any blade shape, and length may be sized to suit each paddler’s preferences. Our performance bentshaft and freestyle paddles have evolved with the most current thinking.
Robson products are now available in North America from Robson North America. For more than 10 years we have been making paddles for paddlers from beginners to world champions. Experienced paddlers design and test our high-quality paddles and boats for you. Learn to rely on our products. We do!
Sawyer Paddles and Oars has been handcrafting wood and wood-core composite paddles for over 35 years. With over 26 models, we build canoe paddles for nearly every paddler or condition. We also do custom work.
Teal, a Northern Ontario company, has been constructing a solid one-piece hardwood paddle for over 20 years. A classic, comfortable palm grip, slightly oval shaft and traditional beavertail blade shape makes Teal paddles popular with recreational paddlers and outfitters. This is an economically priced paddle which is available in birch, ash and cherry hardwoods.
Turtle Paddle Works is a small, family-run business in Muskoka, Ontario. Every paddle we make is hand-carved from a solid piece of select-grade hardwood (seven woods to choose from) and finished with a wet oil sanding and three coats of satin marine urethane. We are extremely proud of the paddles we make, and are dedicated to continuing to carve them by hand as much as possible. Every Turtle logo is hand-painted onto the blade making each paddle truly one of a kind.
Valley Paddles & Oars is Canada's largest manufacturer of aluminum paddes and oars. We pride ourselves on producing top-quality affordable products for recreational paddlers of all ages. Our paddles are tough, strong, lightweight and fully guaranteed for one year. Valley Paddles & Oars also produces emergency kits and other acces- sories for paddlers.
Voyageur has been providing quality paddles to the market since 1969. Available in a variety of materials, Voyageur paddles have long been characterized by perform- ance-oriented design and superior craftsmanship. Voyageur offers paddles for the youngest paddler to the most experienced and demanding and is one of the few com- panies offering a life-time warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Find your perfect blade among our eight models: Kids, OC1 Blade, Adventure, Explorer, Rio Grande, Rio Grande Bent, Blackwood and Blackwood Bent.
Waterstick Performance Paddles are homegrown in Burlington, Ontario, by PMC Baycomp, a leading global specialist in thermoplastic materials. Thermoplastic com- posite construction makes Waterstick paddles lighter and stronger—important considerations for whitewater paddlers. Waterstick’s trihedral blade—referring to the number of spines on a blade surface—distributes water more efficiently than flat or dihedral blades. Waterstick’s canoe paddle is designed in conjunction with North American OC1 Champion Mike Yee. Available in glass or carbon.
Werner Paddles handcrafts a full line of quality kayak and canoe paddles. Experience and new technology have allowed Werner Paddles to set high quality standards in the paddlesports market. All Werner paddle models have the right combination of light weight and durability and have carefully designed blades and shafts to provide you with optimal paddle performance.
Wolverine Paddle was formed in 1983 by Jim Chatsick after he worked with the well-known canoeist Omer Stringer. These handcrafted ottertail paddles are made of solid, high-quality woods—cherry, maple and butternut. A decorative version is also available, carved with a loon head, eagles, waterfowl and hawks. Prices are $75 for the regular ottertail to $195 for the hand-carved decorative. Don't be caught up the creek without one!
