Peppa’s House

and George were greeted with massive enthusiasm and excitement by children when they emerged from the School House,” notes Rainbow Productions managing director David Scott. “I’m sure the characters will continue adding to the memorable experience of many more guests over the coming months.” The deal to develop Peppa Pig World was signed

with Entertainment One last spring, with construction beginning on site in March 2010 when the foundations were laid for the 900 square-metre grass-roofed building that houses a cafe, toy shop and indoor play area. Although a rolling programme of publicity began soon after, Lorton says, “We didn’t want to show the construction site so as to keep some of that magic.” Rides were chosen according to their theming

potential and how they complement other attractions within the park, most of which are relatively unthemed. Perhaps the most interesting is Windy Castle, the first Flying Wheels ride in the UK from Metallbau Emmeln, comprising two turning wheels on a tower, each with three gondolas, providing an unusual but exciting ride pattern.

George’s Dinosaur Adventure is a fun twist on the same manufacturer’s pony-trekking ride with two- seater prehistoric green creatures that bob up and down as they make their way around the track. Metallbau was also responsible for Daddy Pig’s Car Ride, Grandpa Pig’s Boat Trip and Grandma Pig’s Little Train, all fairly standard park attractions, but really brought to life by the theming. Another established Paultons supplier is Zierer,

responsible for no fewer than six of the park’s existing rides. The total rises to eight with its contribution to Peppa Pig World. Miss Rabbit’s Helicopter Flight is a seven-car Ferris Wheel, while close-by is Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride, a focal point of the new land offering riders a 360-degree view of the action.

Muddy Puddles George’s Spaceship Play Zone by Rupert Oliver’s Ideas Factory is the park’s indoor soft play area featuring an interactive ball play attraction, while al fresco fun is available at Mr Potato’s Playground (by Eibe) and the Muddy Puddles water splash zone, all circled by an eye-catching rainbow footpath.

Peppa and George Pig-Snorting

Fun Created by the London animation studio Baker Astley Davies, Peppa Pig is a kids’ cartoon series distributed by Entertainment One to 180 territories across the world, where it is a regular fixture of TV channels such as Nick Jr. The programme centres

around Peppa, a five-year-old pig, and her family including Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and brother George. Lovable but slightly bossy, Peppa enjoys playing with her best friend Suzy the Sheep, visiting Granny and Grandpa Pig, jumping up and down in muddy puddles and making loud snorting noises. But don’t we all? Yet despite UK merchandise

sales last year of over £200 million ($326m/€228m – rivalling Thomas & Friends – this premier pre-school brand has taken time to develop into the hit it is today: “Peppa has always been a slow-burner,” says co- creator Neville Astley. “It didn’t all come at once, but bit by bit we added things and developed more ideas around her, so to see a theme park dedicated to her is just mind-blowing.”
