Italy’s number one
Entertaining around three million guests a year, Gardaland is easily Italy’s busiest amusement park. beating second place Mirabilandia by more than a million. It is also one of the top 10 in Europe. The park was founded in 1975 at Castelnuovo del Garda near Verona
and today includes over 40 rides and attractions spread across 50- hectaes, in addition to its own four-star hotel. Key attractions include a Vekoma Suspended Looping Coaster, Mine Train,
Corkscrew and Mad House; Intamin Super Splash, Rapids, Dark Boat Ride, Flying Island and Gyro Drop; Mack Log Flume and Dark Ride; Pinfari Caterpillar Coaster; S&S Screamin’ Squirrel; Huss Condor and the fantastically colourful children’s area Fantasy Kingdom (pictured below). The park’s mascot is Prezzemolo. In 2006, Gardaland was acquired by the Merlin Entertainments Group,
which has continued to invest to keep it at number one, adding a Sea Life aquarium among other attractions. Local competition includes the Movieland and Aqua Studios parks at Canevaworld Resort, Park Jungle Adventure and several smaller parks/waterparks.
