Dinosaurs Alive! at Kings Island

Visitors to Ohio's Kings Island will have an opportunity to step back in time by millions of years when the world’s largest animatronic dinosaur park debuts next month. More than 60 life-sized dinosaurs will feature in Dinosaurs Alive! against a spectacular Jurassic forest setting. The dinosaurs, which are scientifically accurate, were created by the

Canadian company Dinosaurs Unearthed. Each is hand- carved and covered with skin- like materials. The highlight will be the world’s largest animatronic dinosaur, the Ruyang Yellow River dinosaur, which measures an incredible 72ft long and 30ft high! The attraction will feature six

main scenes and nine thematic exhibits. Four of the dinosaurs will have interactive consoles to allow guests to control the creatures’ movement. Other highlights include an excavation site replica and a kids’ paleontological dig site, not forgetting a dinosaur-themed gift shop.

The $4 million (€2.7m) upgrade to Splash Island will feature two new family slides and nine VIP cabanas. A conveyor belt will transport the rafts from the bottom of the slides to the top. Rental of the cabanas start at $50.

Planet Snoopy at Worlds of Fun

Worlds of Fun, Kansas City, Missouri, has invested over $8 million (€5.4m) for 2011. Planet Snoopy, formerly Camp Snoopy, will boast seven new Zamperla rides, including car and truck rides, a giant balloon tower ride, teacups and a tug-boat. In total Planet Snoopy will now feature over 20 rides, shows, and attractions, including the famous 1926 MC Illions Supreme carousel. The ride formerly operated at the now-defunct Geauga Lake, another Cedar Fair property.

special events to mark the anniversary of the local treasure and National Historic Landmark. Built by master woodcarver Charles ID Looff, the ride one of only a handful of carousels in the world that still has a ring machine. This is the theme of one of two collectible fine art posters that have been produced to celebrate ride’s centennial. A new mural by trompe- l'œil artist John Pugh will be unveiled outside the carousel building, while inside a third organ will be added, by Wurlitzer. An exhibition featuring carousel-themed art and a
