Supporting the Moscow Olympics

In 1980 we won the order to supply radio paging to the Moscow Olympics. This very special order meant that we needed to do more than just supply the product, we needed to help train the possible users. As such we had a delegation from Russia who arrived at the factory to see the manufacturing process and of course receive training. Prior to this prestigious visit, the factory was also visited by two UK Government representatives. They were very keen to advise how we should relate to the Russian team as there was some concern that at least one of those attending could be KGB.

As the communication between officials and differing sites needed to be exceptional, the Olympic committee needed to test the paging system for themselves. On the 19 October 1979 we received a letter of confirmation that the tests had been completed and worked to their satisfaction. It was signed by O Sapoznin, Chairman of the Tallinn Department and included the full engineers report.
