Put your best foot forward and invest in a pedicure chair for your clients.
Pedicures are the ultimate in client luxury, having so much care and attention showered on an otherwise neglected area of the body.
So to make the pedicure experience even more special, any professional salon or Spa should consider investing in a pedicure chair.
Important not only for comfort and practicality, pedicure chairs can add style to salons, accenting and enhancing your existing dècor.
Essential
equipment “Any salon doing regular pedicure treatments should invest in a comfortable chair for their client,” advises Gemma Roberts, Salons DirectMarketing Director.
“It is so much easier doing pedicure treatments with the correct chair, rather than ‘making do’with something,” she adds. “Your clients will definitely see the benefit and so will you!”
Using a chair not specifically designed for pedicures can create an uncomfortable and impractical environment for both client and therapist, making pedicures less enjoyable to give and receive.
David Boyle,Managing Director of Beauty Express says: “It’s not just client comfort that is important in the salon, therapist comfort is of the utmost importance, eliminating back injury and pain therefore minimising lost work days.”
Budget or
luxury? Investing in the correct pedicure chair needn’t cost the earth. However if you do have a larger budget at your disposal there are some fantastic models on the market with many added features.
“If you are aiming to be a luxury-oriented Spa, then you might consider purchasing a chair with more features,” says David. “If you are only interested in high customer turnover, then you might consider a model with fewer options.”
Finding the right model to suit your budget and salon can be made easier by using the internet to get an idea of different features and prices. Trade shows are excellent places to test out new equipment before you buy, so consider visiting a show such as BeautyUK which is held at the Birmingham NEC inMay, or at Scottish Beauty later this month.
Hygiene
matters Making sure you maintain a high level of hygiene in your salon is always important, and never more so when dealing with pedicure chairs.
“So you’ve just invested a tidy sum in the pedicure chair of your dreams,” says Nigel Rouse, ofMundo Products. “But how are you going to maintain its looks and at the same time ensure it’s hygienically safe for your clients?”
“Pedicure chairs with circulatory pipes present a big challenge when it comes to hygiene,” he advises. “Water left in the pipes causes an ideal breeding ground for harmful bio-film and other ‘nasties’ that you certainly don’t want - so it’s vitally important to disinfect the unit in between clients.”
Mundo Professional’s Foot Spa and Pedicure Bowl Disinfectant is a simple and effective answer to pedicure hygiene concerns. The enzymatic formulation quickly removes bio-film and the bactericidal and fungicidal action ensures the system is safe and clean for your next client.
You should avoid any alcohol- based cleaning products as these will make vinyl surface brittle over time, and lead to
