white), Femme Fatale (clear glitter), Breathless (classic pink crème), Life of Leisure (blush peach crème), and Whirlwind Romance (deeper pink crème).

OPI offer shades ideal for creating the traditional French manicure.Alpine Snow is OPI’s ‘whitest white’ shade and gives a crisp, clean French tip. This shade is also available in OPI’sAxxium Coloured Gel.

What can I do for fashion-conscious clients who want something different but still classy on their big day?

“When a bride comes to get her nails done it does not necessarily mean pink and white!” says Louise Callaway speaking on behalf of Bellissima Gel.

“Brides are becoming more experimental with the colours worn on their nails for the big day,” say Izabelle Hammon. “Instead of the classic French they are going for neutral/pastel colours, which help to create a classic/sleek look that also coincides with this season’s fashion colours.”

Ideal for a classy look, ArtDeco offer several neutral Ceramic Nail Lacquer shades. Your client can choose from MauveAzalea (No. 58), Breezy Rose (No. 66), Faded Flower (No.74), and Boulder Grey (No.98).

From OPI, the aptly named Princesses Rule! Is a bright sparkly pink that’s tiara worthy and Rosy Future is a light pink with a complementary purple hue. These shades are also available in OPI’sAxxium Coloured Gel.

Alternatively, for immaculate royal nails fit for a princess, applyArtDeco Ceramic Nail Lacquer in Royal Blue, which contains very fine ceramic particles for intense colour and long-lasting shine.

Super Nail&Beauty also offer over 400 shades of Zoya nail polish. The most natural polish is completely free of formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthlate, and camphor and is vegan friendly. To keep polished nails in tip-top condition for the whole day, make sure a topcoat is used. “We highly recommend a strong topcoat on the nails because the last thing any bride wants is an emergency trip to fix chipped polish and especially if they are going on their honeymoon right after, they’ll want their manicure/pedicure to last,” advises Lucy.

Lucy recommends Salon Services’China Glaze’s First & Last, which offers the simplicity of a basecoat and topcoat in one bottle.

I have a client who wears nail art on a regular basis, how can I incorporate it into her bridal nails?

For those nail techs confident in their skills, nail art is a great way to spice up bridal nails, whether it’s something small on the thumb, or something more obvious on every nail.

“For brides who are more creative and want to make a glamorous statement, nail art stickers are a quick, easy and fun way to make their manicure/pedicure stand out,” says Lucy.

Salon Services offer China NailArt Stickers in Diamonds ‘n’Daisies, which contains white flowers and rhinestones, and Precious Petals, which contain white rose designs with rhinestones, both of which would be ideal for a bride.

Alternatively, NSI’sAttraction Acrylic System also allows your to create nail art.

My client wants a nail treatment that will last throughout her honeymoon too?

For brides on the go looking for something a little more long lasting than a polish, try a gel either as a natural overlay or as an enhancement.

“With little or no time on her special day to wait for nail polish to dry brides can now opt for an alternative for long lasting nail care,” says René.

“Another advantage is that brides can have their nails and toe nails done a few days before the wedding, as they will not lift, chip, or wear away, and the fact that their nails dry immediately under the UV light, they can continue with their busy schedule straight after having them done without any risk or damage to them.

“The biggest bonus is their nails will last right through the honeymoon and will not need to be redone until they return,” Bio Sculpture.

Bio Sculpture Gel can be applied over the natural nails and then cured under UV light to give a strong, durable finish that dries instantly and does not chip. The gel can also be used to create natural looking nail extensions as a colour overlay and is available in over 130 colours, so your bride client will never be limited in choice.

Lucy recommendsASP Soak Off Gel Pink &White, which is exclusive to Salon Services, and is great for creating the perfect French manicured look.

Alternatively, “Glitter acrylic powders add a fantastic and glamorous twist and provide instant sparkle and shimmer to acrylic nails. TheASP Glitz and Glamour Kit is available from Salon Services.

Izabelle Hammon, distributor of Calgel, recommends that those brides opting for gel overlays have a trial before the big day: “We would look at having a trial run for Calgel nails at least a month prior to getting married, just to ensure the product is the right choice for the bride to be.”

Should I encourage my client to prepare her hands and nails in advance of the big day?

It’s easy for hand and nail care to slip to the bottom of the list during a bride’s planning frenzy. “It’s important to consider in the wedding prep that nails are prepared properly for whatever treatment the bride chooses to have on her special day,” says Lucy.

Izabelle Hammon recommend that clients allow six months to prep their nails for their big day as it allows them to grow their nails to the correct length and in a healthy state.

“Cuticle oil is great for making sure the skin around the nail is healthy and glows. By applying it daily to fingers and toes, it’ll rejuvenate and nourish the cuticles and the manicure/pedicure will continue to look fresh,” Lucy continues, who recommends ASP Spa Cuticle Oil in Pomegranate andAcai or Soy Milk and Honey, which contains a unique formula of various oils and vitamins to moisturise and protect the cuticles and nails.

“Paraffin wax is not only a luxurious treatment for your bride-to-be client, but when added to manicures and pedicures the benefits are truly amazing. It improves circulation and the elasticity, smoothness and softness of the skin. It also offers relief to sufferers of arthritis, joint and muscular pain. The most likely stressed-out bride will definitely appreciate the warm, relaxing feeling of the treatment,” continues Lucy.

Hive Peach ParaffinWax Jar, available from Salon Services, has a natural fresh aroma of peach and provides the ideal compliment to the professional salon manicure and pedicure treatment.

To keep hands looking visibly younger OPI’s Tara Oldham recommends Manicure by OPI, a professional facial-quality care system that in four steps exfoliates, revitalises, renews
