Who Built Me?

In the early 1980s there was a boat/travel trailer combination that I saw at the Seattle Boat Show (in a lot better shape). It had twin Volvo Penta engines, enabling it to tow at least two people. It was designed with all the hookups to stay at any RV park. On the stern there were stairs (not a ladder) that would flip down for access. There was an upper pilot station (just ahead of the joggle up) but instead of a windscreen there was an air wall by means of a large slot (4”x 4’) at its base that directed air to a thin slot where a windscreen normally would be. I’m looking for the manufacture and style of this craft.

A friend said, “The Santana,” but I don’t know if that’s the name (doubtful) or style (possibly).

At first I thought it was a Uniflite Yacht Home. I contacted Steve Nordtved of Norstar Yachts in Bellingham, who’s dad started Uniflite in 1957 and was President until 1970. “The boat in the photograph is not a Uniflite. The 36-ft Yacht Home was a monohull, same as the 36-ft Unilfite Cruiser.” Next best guess is a Cruise-A-Home, but didn’t find matching model on the internet. Certainly a handsome vessel.

The Call of the Sea in Song

All these many years my “Pop” (90) has had another love in his life besides my mother; it’s his love of the sea. A while back I wrote a song with him in mind. Now, with the internet, there are pictures with the words. It’s titled, “The Call of the Sea,” and, since you have the same “calling,” I thought you might like to see it. I’d be honored if you did.
