gun — just enough so the gun shoots with exceptional accuracy, but not too tight to bugger the reliability. I’ve never been fond of those re-
views that take two or 13 types of am- munition brands, and then denoting bullet weight, powder type, seating depth and all that other esoteric toro caca, produce three pages of graphic charts showing that from a Ransom Master Series Rest, this one shoots a 2.35798573" hole at 50 yards versus the other one shoots a 1.999375" hole. First, why in a tactical environment for law enforcement or personal pro- tection are you engaging someone at that distance? Second, who gives a big brown chulupa about a .3586707" dif- ference — really? If you want to be a sniper, buy a damn rifle. What truly

matters is, does the gun shoot well enough for you to save your life or the life of another in a fight? The answer here is yes — it most certainly does. The SIG SAUER Tactical Opera-
tions 1911 digested and spit out all the law enforcement and personal protec- tion .45 ACP ammo from Remington, Federal, Hornady, Winchester and Corbon I put through it. There were no malfunctions whatsoever. The gun consistently shot between 2" and 4" at 25 yards, off hand. The 4" groups were because I had an extra cup of coffee on range day — sorry, I’ll try to do better next time. Where it really shined was from
the 3-, 5- and 7-yard lines. The gun points as if it’s part of your hand, and point-shooting drills were more fun
than you can imagine. The other was its unwavering reliability. I’m always a little wary of a 1911 with an exter- nal extractor, but in this case I used old magazines, practice ammo, tar- get ammo, frangible ammo and duty ammo all mixed together. Again zero errors, mis-feeds, failures to eject or any other problems. Extraction was positive and consistent.
Final Thoughts The SIG Tactical Operations 1911
is a gun I would not hesitate to carry into harms way. It has all the bells and whistles necessary to make it a great working gun. Reliability has been a SIG SAUER mainstay for as long as I can remember. This gun upholds that tradition and then some. *
