YOUR VISION,
BROUGHT TO LIFE
New software makes photorealistic rendering of decks, patios, and exteriors easy, economical, and interactive.

Our friends at Trex approached us with the idea of using their proprietary software to create a rendering of this outstanding green house plan. We gave them only the floor plan and a few color ideas, and they did the rest, using their new DesignWorks Deck Design software package.

As you can see, the software does a lot more than design decks. It can quickly create a complete 3D environment, testing colors, elevations, and textures before construction begins. It will also create material lists, design within a certain budget, create a timeline, and calculate cost comparisons using your local material and fastener prices.

DesignWorks is sold as a plug-in to Vectorworks software, so it’s compatible with many other 3D models and formats. The price, says company spokesperson Erin Joseph, is $400 for one plug-in license, usable on three computers.

PLAN THD 3092—FANTASY RENDERING

DURABLE SURFACES
From its standing seam metal roof to composite decking to reflective patio stone, this is a home that’s made to take the heat, the rain, and the wind.

TWO VIEWS
These custom renderings of Plan 3092 (rear view above; front elevation, left) were both created with Trex DesignWorks software. They show the use of composite decking, fiber cement siding and metal roofing, to create an exceptionally resilient home that will require minimal maintenance.
