SNW Europe SNIA ACADEMIES
www.snia-europe.org
The 2011 SNIA Europe Datacenter Technologies Academy program will focus on these aspects of the IT infrastructure with sessions on server, storage and desktop virtualisation and the impact on storage strategies; the ongoing development of Fibre Channel standards (in particular Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE)); plus the regular areas of SNIA expertise such as storage resource management and data protection.
When it comes to virtualization, 71% of delegates surveyed din October indicated that they will have at least 40% of their production server environment virtualized by the end of 2010 while 39% expect to have the same proportion of their storage environment virtualized with 22% expecting that level of desktop virtualization to have taken place.
These are all
areas being closely monitored and advised on by the SNIA and the Academy program will set out to share many of the best practices in these areas.
Finally with 55% of delegates indicating that budgets will be at least as big if not bigger for storage in 2011, this year’s Academy program is likely to be as productive as ever with plenty of advice being sort on how to best address the options available to the IT professional today.
“I found attending the Academy to be extremely useful and a good use of time. Most IT storage events are marketing led and simply do not provide a balanced view of the subject being discussed. The SNIA content, on the other hand, was educational, vendor-independent and thought provoking. It was well worth getting out of the office for a day; a chance to have time to really think about the issues you need to resolve when you get back to your desk.” Colin Ritchie, Storage Architect, BT Group.
“With so many events out there to chose from, it is important to select the ones that are going to give you a return on investment of your time. The Academy certainly does that. The agenda was
full of topics that are at the top of our priority list such as server virtualisation and cloud computing and I’m pleased to see SNIA working to bring clarity and standardisation into these areas. I’m looking forward to seeing more in the future.” Vicente Marco, Technical Architect, T-Systems Ltd.
Why attend the SNIA Datacenter Technologies Academy? The content of the presentations is of extremely high quality and vendor neutral (approved by SNIA Europe and therefore will not be a vendor’s product pitch)
You get access to industry experts, analysts and consultants, without having to engage in costly contracts
You get to see several vendors in one place, in one day, and these are not just partners within an eco system but individual vendors and resellers/system integrators
With dates in several countries it covers most of the key EMEA markets
and of course, it is free to attend for IT end-users and qualifying channel partners
