CASE STUDY DRAGONS’ DEN
There’s also a complicated audio dub to perform, with 10 separate audio sources composed of pitches, the dragons’ responses and mood music added on top – with audio post-production tool Titan used for the conform.
TIME PRESSURES This conforms multi-channel location sound recordings to picture editors’ EDLs, corrects synchronisation discrepancies and re-cuts Pro Tools sessions to follow changes in picture edits. “We use
Titan as it works well with Avid’s Pro Tools in our ICON suites,” says Hardman.
The first show of the current series was only finished two days before transmission, with the necessary legal checks adding to the time pressure. “Toward the end of the process it can get a bit hairy,” admits Hardman. “Which is why we need the speed and flexibility afforded by the best tools, which our Avid Media Composer and Symphony Nitris DX suites offer.”
“The big advantage is that it really cuts down on time, effort and cost because rather than sending us all the tapes we get two days worth of material on one drive, which takes just 30 minutes to copy”
