your civil war event experience
Each day of the event, your group of approximately 30 guests – accompanied by a dedicated Tauck Director along with local experts and guides – will embark on one of three custom-crafted sightseeing tracks designed to give context to the Civil War and the topics that Ken Burns sees as critical to our understanding of it: “Lincoln’s War” (p. 38-39), “The Meaning of Freedom” (p. 40-41), and “The People’s War” (p. 42-43). Your small group will experience each of these themed adventures on a different day, then rejoin the other groups to enjoy extraordinary evenings together at the National Building Museum, the National Archives with Ken Burns, and the National Portrait Gallery & Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Your Accommodations
We have selected four upscale, historically significant Washington, DC hotels for you to choose from as your “home base” for the entire event, so there’s no need for packing and unpacking – The St. Regis Washington, DC; The Willard InterContinental Washington; The Hay-Adams; and The Fairfax at Embassy Row (details and pricing on pages 44-45). Regardless of which hotel you choose, a Tauck representative will be in-house to assist you in any way.
