Pattni ‘keen to work with sports retailers’ on football action figures

Sporty Bumps wrap-around

K maternity sportswear brand Sporty Bump has launched a new toweling wrap-around robe featuring a pleat which expands with the growing baby bump, ensuring complete privacy for the wearer.

The black Robe-Around has a Velcro fastening to ensure comfortable fitting for women of all shapes and sizes, as well as the pleat. Sporty Bump offers a range of clothes specially designed to help pregnant women stay active. Sporty Bump said the pleat eliminates the triangular area of the pregnant body exposed when using a regular towel secured over the bust.

T

oy company Pattni Imaginations said it is looking to work with sports retailers to grow the market for its new poseable Match Stars football action figures.

Match Stars figures are targeted for sale through retailers in October. Pattni Imaginations has already signed agreements with some of football’s biggest teams, including Spanish giants Barcelona and Premier League outfits Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, to design figures featuring next season’s home kits, club crests, shirt sponsors and sleeve badges. The figures are fully poseable and each player will have moveable head, shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists, waist, legs, knees and ankles. Pattni Imaginations said the new range represents ‘a significant advance from non-movable football player figures and presents a much more attractive prospect to the consumer’. Pattni Imaginations said it will be working closely with licensors and retailers to boost the new products through promotional activity and make them ‘a must-buy for the 2011 Christmas season’. Pattni Imaginations managing director Mayur Pattni said: “We are keen to work with sports retailers and feel that having point of sales materials such as floor and counter display units would be great for sports stores, as the Match Stars range can complement their existing stock of football merchandise.”

Sporty Bump spokesperson, Lesley Singleton said: “Women are always conscious of their body shape, even more so during pregnancy when such significant changes take place. Thanks to the expandable pleated section of the Robe-Around, pregnant women can feel relaxed in public places, such as the swimming baths, gym or health club. It’s also the perfect holiday cover-up, ideal when relaxing by the pool or on the beach.

“The wearer can be confident that her body is covered, without having to clutch at small towels, meaning that both hands are left free.”

Caribee builds sales force

B

rand Agility, the sole distributor for the Caribee range of backpacks and bags in the UK, has appointed five sales agents to take the brand into the marketplace.

Brand Agility sales director Jacquie Sanderson said the company saw sales up 30 per cent year-on-year thanks to the Caribee range, and as such has appointed Mike Morgan, Steve Lee, Andrew Selby, Fred O’Neil and Kevin Westbury to represent it in the marketplace. Sanderson said: “We are delighted to have a full team on board and can only benefit from the wealth of experience they collectively contribute to the continued growth of Caribee throughout 2011 and beyond. “Now we have the whole of the UK geographically covered with Caribee representation.”

Caribee was present at last month’s Intersport Q3 show, and showcased its 2011 ‘Back to School’ range.

Sanderson said: “We were pleased with the positive response from Intersport members, which further endorses our belief that Caribee is becoming a contender in the arena.”
