Selling: Tech Rep
Columbia keeps out the cold
Darren Wilcox, sales representative at Columbia Sportswear, runs us through the technical aspects of its new baselayer collection.
T
he Columbia Omni-Heat Thermal Reflective baselayer collection has been launched for AW11, and is equipped with the Omni-Heat Thermal Reflective silver dot lining to act as a second skin and reflect the wearer’s own body heat, so they can hold onto the warmth naturally generated by their body, essentially making their own heat.
Columbia Sportswear worked with the University of Portland in Oregon, USA to optimise
thermoregulation. Omni- Heat Thermal Reflective is strategically placed around baselayers using a body mapped design, which helps retain body heat where it is needed most.
The product proves that more weight does not necessarily equal more warmth. Columbia
Sportswear's baselayer is an effective lightweight product which keeps you warm without added bulk. Thermal Reflective technology helps regulate your temperature by reflecting and retaining the warmth the body generates, while dissipating moisture and excess heat to keep you comfortable. To ensure you stay fresh and dry, Columbia Sportswear's has also incorporated Omni- Wick Advanced Evaporation technology into its baselayers, which takes moisture away from the body in high perspiration zones. This moisture transferring technology moves and disperses sweat away from the body for quick evaporation, and keeps you dry and comfortable during all types of physical activity. The products includes 15 per cent elastane making them highly stretchable, with flat-lock stitching to avoid chafing and raglan sleeves for extended range of motion. Form fitting with four-way comfort stretch
and ergonomic seaming, the baselayers feel like a second skin.
Soft elastane fibre with enhanced elasticity allows wearers to move freely whilst Omni-Wick without dots in heat zones allows for maximum breathability. Additional odour control antimicrobial material controls odour for multiple days of usage. The midweight baselayers come in a long sleeve/short sleeve crew neck and a long sleeve half zip for men and women. Two weights offer solutions and benefits for a range of low to high aerobic activities, helping to maximise the consumer’s outdoor experience. We recommend the 170g weight for mid to high performance activities like Nordic-type skate skiing, walking, biking, running and 210g weight for on mountain snow sports like skiing and boarding. Igniting the baselayer industry with superior innovation with wear-tested proven results, our baselayers are a game changer in the market, the first base layer with visible Omni-Heat Thermal Reflective technology, which is the industry leader in thermal performance wear.
