For Goodness Shakes mixes it up

Single serve powder sachets launched to allow more novice and intermediate athletes to start using recovery products.

R

ecovery brand For Goodness Shakes has launched a new range of single serve powder sachets to its line of nutrition products.

For Goodness Shakes offers a range of recovery products that have been available through supermarkets and other grocery stores for a number of years. This includes Elite, 500g bottles of premixed drink, and Sprint, 330g premixed bottles.

Two years ago, the English Institute of Sport approached the brand to see if it could develop a powder form of recovery product so that athletes could easily continue to use them while travelling. The sachet product was developed over two years, which For Goodness Shakes said allowed it to develop a product that is ‘easy to mix, enjoyable to drink and convenient to use’.

For Goodness Shakes said its ethos is to appeal to a broad audience and the Powder 80g sachets will help introduce more novices and intermediate athletes to recovery products,

It said the powder sachets offer a ‘rich and rewarding milkshake taste’ from a product that is fast and easy to mix from packets that are easy to open in cold weather and high winds. Nutritionally, they offer three parts carbohydrate to one part protein, contain 6g of amino acids and include whey and casein proteins, plus additional vitamins and minerals to aid recovery.

The launch of the powder sachets will be supported by a strong marketing push into key markets with a £1m campaign fund, national advertising, free giveaways and an email campaign. For Goodness Shakes will also attend running and endurance events throughout 2011 to promote the new range.

The range is available in four flavours, Choc Malt, Vanilla, Superberry and Banana, and comes in singles, 12-sachet multipack, recovery kit of eight sachets with a free water bottle or a 20 serving tub. With the recovery kit, per serving cost drops from £1.99 to
