THE OSHER LIFELONG LEARNING INSTITUTE— WHERE CURIOSITY NEVER RETIRES

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at California State University San Marcos was launched in 2004 with the mission of bringing quality programs and courses to retirement age learners in our community. A member of the Bernard Osher Foundation, OLLI at CSUSM is part of a national network of life-long learning institutes designed to engage, captivate, and

expand the minds of seasoned learners, allowing them to experience the pure joy of learning. OLLI programs and courses are designed to enhance quality of life, keep the

mind alert and help the memory stay sharp. Our non-credit courses are taught by University faculty and field experts in a wide variety of subjects. Each semester OLLI strives to bring in new, exciting curriculum to engage and inspire students. What sets OLLI at CSUSM apart from other programs is our satellite classrooms,

bringing University caliber instruction to a neighborhood near you! In addition to offering courses on our San Marcos and Temecula campuses, Osher courses are available in 9 other locations throughout the community. If you are looking for intelligent fun - are interested in connecting with a group

of your peers who share common goals, want to learn new things, explore new ideas and share your own personal experiences - then OLLI is for you!

GET INVOLVED—VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!

As a Volunteer with Osher you can make a difference! We are currently looking for assistance in the following areas:

CLASSROOM AMBASSADORS: These volunteers work with the instructor to provide a seamless experience for our students. As an Ambassador you are the on-site classroom representative, assisting instructors and students and relaying issues or suggestions to the CSUSM staff.

OSHER GARDEN COMMITTEE: The Osher Garden will be a gathering place for students, an ideal spot for discussion groups or small classes, and a tranquil place to find a quiet moment for study or meditation. Whether you are a gardening expert or novice with a love of plants, a fundraising enthusiast, or just want to meet new people this could be the committee for you!

CURRICULUM PLANNING COMMITTEE: Didn’t see the class you want this semester? Then join the Curriculum Planning Committee and bring us your ideas! We need your input on this active committee.

CITY AMBASSADOR: Help us spread the word in your town. Distribute Osher catalogs to libraries, doctors offices, service groups, etc.

Please call Janice Monypeny, Director, at 760-750-8712.
