More top brands join London Bass Guitar Show Several major bass companies added to exhibitor list for Olympia-based event, scheduled to take place in March 2011
OYSTER HOUSE, organiser of the London Bass Guitar Show, planned for March 2011 at London Olympia, says the number of major brands committing to the event is continuing to grow. Among the latest crop are Peavey and Trace Elliott, plus high-end instrument maker Status Graphite, whose users include bass legend Mark King. Additionally, Proel will be exhibiting Mark Bass products and MTD bass guitars. Other exhibitors will include Orange Amplification and Goto Guitars, who will be displaying G&L, Breedlove & BBE basses. Oyster has also confirmed
that northern specialist Bass Gear will be present: “with a wide range of choice products for the bass enthusiast.”
This line-up is in addition to the earlier confirmations of Yamaha, Warwick, Strings & Things, Gallien-Kruger/Polar Audio and Firstline, which is responsible for Eden Amplification, Spector Basses & DR Handmade Strings. Also there will be Sound Technology’s recent catalogue addition, EBS. “It’s very exciting that the industry both here in the UK and across Europe is so behind this show”, says Hugo Montgomery- Swan, MD of Oyster House Media and publisher of Bass Guitar Magazine. “Furthermore, we shall soon be in a position to announce details of some of the international artists and bands performing on the live stage.” OYSTER HOUSE MEDIA: 01884 266100
Yamaha makes Music Point Avid opens Pro Tools
YAMAHA HAS launched a new Music Point learning strategy which sees a repositioning of the traditional Yamaha Music Schools model. Throughout November Yamaha Music Schools will be re-branded as Yamaha Music Points. The Music Point strategy is designed to allow local operators and regional Yamaha offices throughout Europe more freedom and flexibility in the range of courses offered. Yamaha Music in the UK is
also devising a programme of new learning opportunities in association with leading artists and industry practitioners. This new element will allow Music
Point operators to reach new customers. Nigel Burrows, the UK’s
Yamaha Music Schools and Music Point marketing manager was instrumental in driving the new policy to completion. “Quality music education is at the core of Yamaha philosophy,” he said. “Music Point will allow both Yamaha and our partner operators far
more flexibility in running the learning centres and adopting more creative recruitment promotions.” Historically, keyboards and
organ tuition formed the basis of the Yamaha Music School. In 2002, the first UK Guitar Encounters course was launched, followed by Drum Encounters in 2005. YAMAHA: 01908 366700
AVID HAS announced Version 9, the next generation of its Pro Tools editing software. While Version 9 software can be used with Avid audio interfaces, it has now been opened up to third-party hardware, or no hardware at all when using the audio capabilities of a Mac or PC. The open
platform of V9 also provides more versatility for users, who need to work on mixes at home, in the studio or on the road.
“One big thing about Pro Tools is that I won’t have to run two systems anymore,” commented Ulrich Wilde, producer and engineer for Pantera and Deftones, just one of the multitude of engineers that work almost exclusively with Pro Tools. “I have a dedicated Pro Tools system and an Apogee system and I have to reboot with one or the other –
now I can save space and time toggling between them.” Pro Tools 9 is also available for
M-Powered M-Audio products. AVID: 01753 655999
