ACF2010Review
Chapman Freeborn climbs the league
According to Chapman Freeborn Airchartering, the broker was at ACF 2010 in force to showcase its charter expertise to top decision-makers in the international air cargo and logistics industry. Representatives on the exhibition stand pointed out
the company’s full range of services to visitors, including: private jet charters, cargo charters, onboard couriers and global flight support. Chapman Freeborn was keen to point out that
“despite tough trading conditions” it has jumped 82 places in the Sunday Times HSBC Top Track 250 list, now ranking 73rd in the annual league table of Britain’s biggestmid-market private companies. As the company’s executives prepared to travel to
Amsterdamfor ACF 2010, Chapman Freeborn was also arranging a successful four-aircraft AN-124 charter for logistics service provider Logwin between Gothenburg and the west coast of South America (see page 25). Earlier this year in Shanghai, Chapman Freeborn was voted Air Cargo Charter Broker of the Year at the ACW World Air Cargo Awards for the fourth year in a row.
Traxonmaintains themomentum
Felix Keck, managing director of Frankfurt-based electronic messaging services provider Traxon Europe, says that a key strategy of this year has been eCargo Pouch, the web-based central docu- ment andmessagemanagement system. Momentum on eCargo Pouch is growing, he
added. Singapore-based Cargo Community Net- work (CCN) has recently joined the pre-existing partnership of Traxon Europe and Cargonaut and Keck was at ACF 2010 to promote the offering. Next year will see further efforts to turn the
wide level of interest seen in the product into hard business. With the EU’s Import Control System (ICS) mandate’s deadline passing at the start of 2011, there will be more time for companies to look at the eCargo Pouch and evaluate its benefits, he said, while the addition of a third partner will provide further impetus. Moreover, e-Freight is still a hot topic, Keck insisted, despite
company to have processed about 155 million messages by the end of this year, a significant improvement on 2009. Some new customers have been signed up, but mostly pre-existing clients have significantly upped their electronic messaging, he confirmed. Traxon Europe’s product portfolio is growing.
A new offering called eWayBillData Capture has just been released and the company has developed products compliant with new South African and Nigerian Customs regulations, as well as a cus- tomised track and trace web offering based on the Traxon Cargo Data Management Portal. Finally, Traxon

Vietnam’s Vector arrives at ACF with expansion plans inmind
Vietnamese GSSA Vector Aviation was in Amsterdamwith its sights set
high.Already representing over 20 airlines, the Ho ChiMinh City-based company is growing its offering to include other services that complement its core activity. Vector managing director Do Xuan Quang said two of
the elements he particularly wanted to promote at ACF 2010 were Vector’s air chartering and ACMI leasing ser- vices, both of which are quite new to the company. With Vector having marketed around 30 percent more cargo space this year so far, in comparison to the same
period of 2009, Quang is also keen to expand the GSSA’s reach by opening more offices around the world. “We have already set up in Cambodia and we have representa- tives in Singapore, Bangkok, Cairo and in China,” he noted. “We often come to exhibitions because they are a good
opportunity to meet people and to deal with partners,” Quang continued. “At ACF ... we held some very produc- tivemeetingswith a number ofmajor airlines” and he also talked with a carrier about launching an MD-11 or B747 freighter service between Prague and Vietnam.
