Comprising a ground-floor reception and first-floor complex of meeting rooms and entertainment areas, the stand always creates a stir in the exhibition halls where it appears. Heavyweight was at ACF 2010 not only as an exhibitor, but also as the host of the cocktail reception held before the Gala Dinner given by Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport on 3 November to officially take on the responsibility of staging ACF 2012.

CARLO DE HAAS, managing director of Netherlands- based cargo general sales agent FlyUs, observes that with ACF 2010 taking place in its homemarket the com- panywas especially glad “to get some exposure, tomeet people and network”. He added: “It’s about working to maintain relationships and also to see if there are any new airline clients interested in our services.”
LIÈGE AIRPORT and Groep H Essers used ACF 2010 to reveal the deal they have agreed to “jointly develop com- mercial activities” at the Belgian air gateway. Groep H Essers is to open an office at the airport, from which it will offer services including high-value transportation, groupage and cold-chain pharmaceutical logistics.
BANGOR INTERNATIONAL airport inMaine is themost eastern air gateway to theUS, observesAnthony Caruso, assistant airport director. It can boast 24-hour US Cus- toms and a 3,486-metre runway that “can handle any aircraft”. Amsterdam was the first time at an ACF event for Caruso, but he observed: “It’s been a great venue for us with good networking opportunities.”
PARIS CHARLES DE GAULLE airport-based cargo gen- eral sales agent Cargoworld France was at ACF 2010 hoping to make new contacts in the airline business, says CEO Paul Overvoorde. He remarked: “We are focused on France.Whatwe do,we dowell, and our air- lines are happy.”

Dubai-based carrier revealed that it had reached even higher peaks in its operational results than the riggers had in erecting its stand in Amsterdam, when it released record half-year figures (ACW, 8 November, p1) to coincide with the opening of the event. Ram Menen, divisional senior vice president
cargo, was keen to point out that Emirates SkyCargo had con- tributed a strong performance across its network, helping to boost the airline result to a new high. Emirates SkyCargo carried 23.7 percentmore cargo in the six-
month period than in the same period of 2009, a total of 897,000 tonnes. Its revenue increased by 48.4 percent to US$1.2 billion and the strong SkyCargo contribution accounted for 17.8 percent of the airline’s total transport revenue for the period.
