Taos’ desert and mountain landscapes invite discovery today. Venture outside of the city to Ranchos de Taos to see the 18th-century San Francisco de Asís Mission Church and legendary Pueblo de Taos, the only living Native American community designated both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a National Historic Landmark. Storyteller Roberta Meyer shares the legends of the region before a walk to the pueblos over the dramatic Rio Grande Gorge Bridge – spectacular views provide an awesome backdrop for her fascinating stories. 7. SANTA FE ART / BANDELIER / ALBUQUERQUE A private morning visit to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum showcases some 3,000 works of art by this prolific artist.
