Adeline Gray is one of the top women’s freestyle wrestlers in the United States. Gray is a Junior World champion who placed fifth in the 2009 Senior World Championships in Herning, Denmark. Gray was off to a strong start to the 2009-10 season before

suffering an injury that ended her season. She is expected to be back on the mat next season at 67 kg/147.5 lbs. Gray took time out of her busy schedule to answer 20 questions for USA Wrestler. 1. Favorite Movie? The Little Mermaid 2. Favorite TV Show?

HOUSE- Kelsey Campbell aka Roomie and I watch it every- day!!!

3. Favorite food when not watching your weight? Chicken fajitas 4. What artists do you listen to in your iPod to pump you up before you wrestle?

I do not listen to music before a match unless the venue is playing something. Then I like R&B or country to keep me relaxed it helps me stay calm for matches. 5. Favorite sport other than wrestling? Soccer. It makes for such a great day when Coach Izzy lets us play for warm up or for recovery day! 6. Favorite athlete to watch in another sport? Usain Bolt - he is amazing the way he pushes himself when he is already the best.

7. Favorite wrestler and why?

Schuyler Brown, because of how hard she works and how much joy she has for the sport. I look up to her. 8. Best piece of advice you've received? You can do anything with the right mindset and the heart. 9. What kind of advice would you give a younger wrestler who is just taking up the sport? Do not give up. It can take you far. 10. Best moment as a wrestler so far? Hard work paying off at practice about a year ago. I had been struggling with a move for a while. I hit a high-crotch to a turn flawlessly. I had been trying forever and everything fell into place: the flow of my body, my mind seeing the shot and react- ing, not thinking, it felt right - it was right. It feels so great when hard work pays off. 11. Name three people you would love to invite to dinner? Marilyn Monroe, Rulon Gardner (I would wear my Rulon wrestling shoes to dinner for sure), and Sandra Bullock 12. What is one thing you are afraid of? Failure

13. Best part about living in Colorado? It’s home. What is not to love? We have mountains - I get to enjoy their beauty everyday. My whole family is here. My OTC Team (Colorado Springs Olympic Training) are my best friends and there is over 300 days of sunshine. 14. Favorite college class? Sociology of Sport

15. What is one thing about you most people don’t know? My favorite color is pink- just kidding! I think most people know that. I hate when people touch my nose.

16. Any idea of what you will do after your competitive career is over?

I hope to have my business degree, and maybe a master’s degree in something along the lines of health, by the time I am done with my competitive career. I do not know the specific job I want, but I love sports. I also have a goal to lower our countries obesity rate. If I can help people be confident and healthy with their bodies I will be a happy person. 17. How did you end up becoming a wrestler? My father is the youngest of seven boys and he ended up with four daughters. He really was not sure what to do with us, so he immersed us into a world that he knew and loved: wrestling. It also helped that my mother’s brother was the head coach of the Jr. League program. From there it was a line of amazing coaches and support of a lot of people. 18. What do you do doing a typical flight overseas? Drink lots of water and move as much as possible. I take a few naps and go do a few mini workouts, stretch, pummel, and rubdowns. Homework.

19. Coolest place you've traveled to? CHINA!! I have been there three times and I love it. It is so

different from anywhere else and the shopping is AMAZING!! I bring an extra suitcase every time I go so when I buy too much I have room. The food is interesting; they leave the head’s on the fish and cook the feet of animals just for flavor. I also like it because I can eat most of the food, I have a few food allergies and their food is pretty safe for me to eat, unlike German and American food. It is fun to walk in China because everyone wants to take a picture with the American girl with long hair. It is fun and the training is very different from Coach Steiner’s Iowa style.

20. Funniest girl on the women’s team and why? Alyssa Lampe!!! She can bust a move like no one I know and her shy self says some funny stuff when I am down in the dumps to cheer me up. Did I mention her laugh is so funny because she laughs at her own jokes and mistakes?
