DIMPLEX MOVES TOWARDS ZERO CARBON WITH NEW SOLAR PV PACKS

D

implex Renewables is adding to its extensive portfolio with the launch of a new range of solar

photovoltaic (PV) packages. Containing polycrystalline modules and everything required for installation, the kits offer a complete PV solution for residential and light commercial buildings, providing clean, locally-generated energy and reducing carbon emissions. The kits contain everything that’s needed to install and connect the modules, including G83 approved inverter, roof mounting system, cabling, isolators and generation meter. The hardware is MCS-accredited so the kits are eligible for the feed-in tariffs when properly installed by an MCS-accredited installer. This will allow homeowners, businesses and public sector organisations to take advantage of a generation tariff of up to 41p per kWh for locally-generated electricity, providing a guaranteed source of income for 25 years.

Designed for both new build and

retrofit projects, the packs feature low profile roof mounts – protruding less than 200mm above the roof. This means the installed systems are classed as ‘permitted development’ in England and Scotland and do not require planning permission in non-conservation areas.

The polycrystalline modules have a surface area of 1.6m2, which is greater than most modules available and deliver an output of 230W, with a module efficiency of 14.2%. The modules are supplied with a product warranty of five years and offer guaranteed 95 percent performance for five years and 80 percent performance for 25 years. Dimplex offers Logic Certification- approved solar PV training courses at its headquarters in Southampton for installers wanting to get an industry-recognised installation qualification. The four day courses include in-depth general coverage of the technology and a focus on the Dimplex kits, to ensure high quality installations.

Renewable energy finance gives hope to ‘green’ projects

T

he new coalition government has wasted no time in addressing the UK’s budget deficit and a wide range of spending cuts has been announced, many affecting the ‘green’ construction industry. But renewable energy technologies can still be an option, with Renewable Energy Finance from Dimplex. The scheme has been designed to overcome budget restrictions and spread the costs of the full installation of renewable

energy systems, covering ground and air source heat pumps and solar thermal hot water systems. Clare

manager for Dimplex Renewables, says: “Many organisations will have lost access to avenues of potential funding following the new government’s scrapping of initiatives such as the Low Carbon Building Programme and Building Schools for the Future. However, the Renewable Energy Finance scheme ensures that planned renewables projects can still go ahead, by providing capital funding to cover the up- front costs of purchase and installation. “Local authorities, schools and housing associations do not need to lose out, as the initial capital investment of an installation can be spread up to a maximum of 15 years. Essentially this allows projects aimed at tackling issues such as Decent Homes and fuel poverty to continue as planned.”

The scheme is an ideal solution for any organisation looking to implement renewable energy technologies but unable to secure some or all of the initial capital outlay. It allows the investment costs to be re-paid over a period of years and the savings in energy costs provided from the

heat pump – once installed – can also be used to part fund the scheme.

Dimplex can provide match funding if any grant funding has been secured, or provide 100 percent project funding where grants aren’t available. It covers the complete project costs so there is no up-front capital outlay and there are flexible payment schedules and accounting structures to meet individual client needs.

The whole heat pump or solar thermal system can be funded, including consultancy, installation and commissioning as well as groundworks, all renewable equipment and the heat distribution system.

Bespoke agreements to suit individual clients’ requirements will be considered by the Dimplex renewable energy scheme. The scheme can also offer deferred payment options to ease current budget constraints.
