Café Life at Aston University

A new food court facility at Aston University, designed to provide students with a wide choice of food and refreshment opportunities has been successfully completed by Weatherite Building Services Limited (WBS). The new ‘Café Tierra’ was converted from an area previously used as a reception and offices and its conversion has provided students and university staff with an exciting new restaurant/cafeteria destination.

Weatherite undertook the complete services project on a main contractor basis, project managing a comprehensive programme of works.

This included the supply and installation of a temperature controlled ventilation system to the new kitchen (food preparation and cooking areas), bar section, buffet areas, dishwater facilities, cafeteria and restaurant.

WBS also completed the various services within the required facilities including supply, installation and modification to the radiator heating system, all new pipe work services

including gas, water (legionella compliance) and drainage.

Martin Thomas, Sales Director of Weatherite Building Services said: “‘Café Tierra’ is the latest in a series of projects we have carried out at the Aston University campus and we were awarded this contract due to our ability to deliver the complete project from start to finish. Another important factor was to deliver the completed facility within a very tight time frame, whilst ensuring there would be minimal disruption to university life and student activities throughout the operation.”
