Bbi to tap into the UK utilities market with industry accreditation

Beacons Business Interiors (Bbi), the Wales-based facilities support company, has successfully been accredited to the UVDB Achilles qualification service that will enable it to sell its services to utility companies across the UK.

Established in 1996, UVDB Achilles is recognised as the standard for supplier pre-qualification within the utilities sector and is now used by all major UK utilities to source suppliers and contractors. The UVDB Achilles supplier

management services makes Bbi a trusted partner for more than 650 of the world’s largest companies including those involved in the power generation, transmission and distribution, nuclear, water, and telecom and gas industries.

Jeff Lee, group compliance officer for Bbi, said: “The accreditation process was particularly rigorous and involved a visit by an auditor to our head office as well as a

current site that we are working on.

This is carried out over a two-day period and the strength of our health, safety, environmental and quality systems were thoroughly put through their paces. “Having the right systems in place has always been a priority for Bbi, and we have a dedicated compliance department to ensure that we are always exceeding all regulatory requirements. It is always good to know that the systems you have in place hit the mark.

“Achieving this sought-after accreditation is a major boost for Bbi. It will enable us to increase our business opportunities across a whole industry sector by connecting us directly with a network of potential buyers.

Andy Graham, executive chairman of Bbi, said: “The utilities is a growth sector for Bbi. We already work with a number of
