Dear Athletes,
On behalf of USA Triathlon, I’d like to welcome you to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the 2010 USA Triathlon Age Group, Sprint and Elite National Championships. Con- gratulations on earning your spot on the starting line this weekend. That in itself is a testament to your hard work and dedication to the multisport lifestyle.
An event of this magnitude takes months of preparation, and USA Triathlon would like to thank the many individuals and groups in the Tuscaloosa community that helped to make this weekend possible: Mayor Walt Maddox; Stephanie Roberts Maddox; Robert Ratliff, executive director of the Tuscaloosa Convention and Visitors Bureau; Tera Wyatt of the Tuscaloosa Department of Transportation; and Gina Johnson of the University of Alabama. This event would not be pos- sible without our volunteers and the tremendous support of Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama.
USA Triathlon’s national partners, as well as local sponsors of this event, also have worked hard to make this a showcase race weekend. Their dedication to multisport helps to fund this event and its activities, and we are incredibly grate- ful for their support.
We hope that you enjoy your time in Tuscaloosa and take time to enjoy all that the city has to offer. This community has shown tremendous support of the sport of triathlon in recent years, and we encourage all of this weekend’s participants to return the favor.
