regulator, eliminating the external inductor and com- plex layout placement challenges typical of switching regulator designs. The wide junction temperature range of -55° C to +125° C (-67° to 77° Fahrenheit) make the new SIMPLE SWITCHER power modules well-suited for field programmable gate arrays (FP- GAs), microprocessors, digital signal processors (DSPs) and other point-of-load (POL) conversions in harsh environments such as industrial and military applications.

erlikon Solar (OERL) and Astronergy jointly announced a follow-up purchase agreement

for Oerlikon Solar‘s thin film equipment. With this order, Astronergy will increase its production capa- city from 30 megawatts (MW) today to 75 MW in 2011. The purchase is a key element in the expan- sion plan of Astronergy‘s thin film solar photovoltaic (PV) modules of up to 400 MW within the near future. “We are committed to taking the thin film route as a direction for growth,” said Dr. Liyou Yang, Astronergy CEO. http://www.oerlikon.com

N-Labs announced the immediate avail- ability of materials based on NNCrystal’s Qshift

Coral technology following the recent successfully completed review by the U.S. Environmental Protec- tion Agency (EPA). Qshift Coral comprises specially engineered colloidal nanocrystals (quantum dots) to finely tune light such that the color of the light can be precisely controlled. Specifically, Qshift Coral technology makes lighting warmer and of higher qua- lity, while reducing energy consumption for the same Lumen output compared with traditional phosphor- based warm white lighting. 2i Limited, a leader in liquid repellent nano- coating technology, has acquired 100% of the

share capital of Surface Innovations Ltd, a UK- based technology company with a wide range of functional nano-coating patents. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition expands P2i’s product portfolio beyond its market-leading technologies for liquid repellency, adding “functio- nal” coating technologies with applications including anti-bacterial resistance, liquid attracting (super wettable), and many others. P2i is the world leader in liquid repellent nano-coating technology. http://www.p2i.com
