Passenger Screening: Handling the Technology Options A brief overview and presentation of different types of technology and the pros and cons of each solution. What could be the realistic deployment plans of these machines and how to sort out infrastructural limitations? Analysis of how the use of technology can be complemented with intelligence and behavioral-based screening approaches. What should be the role of detection technology at the new generation screening process and checkpoints?

Next Generation An overview of IATA’s proposal for the Next Generation Screening Process.

The current system of passenger and cabin screening is time- expired. It does not adequately address all current threats and is not dynamic. It is illogical, inflexible and not explainable. Therefore, what is required is a new model that aims to institute a more intelligent approach, provide a sustainable process, be cost-efficient and enhance the customer experience.

Following high-level support for this idea from the ICAO AVSEC Panel, a collaborative industry/stakeholder effort involving ICAO, ACI and IATA was launched in May 2010. The scope includes all security and facilitation activity from the time of passenger booking until the completion of flight boarding and it has made interesting progress since.

The session will present a high-level introduction and discuss the merits and challenges of such an approach. It will reflect on experiences of the Governance Group and importantly discuss and debate next steps.

Passenger Data: Handling the Proliferation and Protection of it An overview of IATA’s actions to reduce inconsistencies in passenger data information exchange. How much information is the passenger forced to release? How do airline and reservation systems protect passengers’ rights and the information in general? What should be the role of passenger data at next generation screening process and checkpoints?

Sponsorship and exhibiting opportunities are still available, but selling out quickly!
