QuestGates Specialist loss adjuster


QuestGates has strengthened its Counter Fraud team with the appointment of Sally Maeers and Mark Woodhead. This comes shortly after John Freeman joining the business as counter fraud director from Capita.


Ed Brown Bluefin


Bluefin Insurance Services Limited, the AXA owned broker has confirmed that it has recruited a senior property team from Aon. The first member of the new property team, Ed Brown, will be based in London. He will be joined by the other members of the team, Keith Burnham, John Johnson and Rob Hunter over the coming months. Ed was formerly a client manager at Aon and will be joining Bluefin as executive director, Real Estate.


RDT


Insurance administration solutions specialist RDT has appointed Debbie Baker as its sales and marketing director to support business growth. She brings significant insurance experience to the role, having worked within the UK retail insurance market and technology companies supplying the sector for over two decades. She joins RDT from Kewill, where she was business unit director - Insurance.


Sally was previously a trainer with the NHS counter fraud and security management team. She was also a trainer with Thames Valley Police where she developed a number of intelligence gathering initiatives to support its operations. She will support the existing training team which provides specialised practitioner based accredited fraud training through QuestGates’ partnership with the Fraud and Financial Crime Centre at Teesside University. In addition, Mark Woodhead is joining the field based team as an investigator. He joins the business from RBS where he worked for several years in its claims validation unit.


Cullum Capital Ventures


Independent insurance intermediary Cullum Capital Ventures has announced the appointment of John Harrison as sales and marketing director. With over thirty years’ industry experience, he joins from Towergate Coverex where he was managing director. Prior to this he spent 17 years at specialist event insurance broker Woodgate & Partners, the last 11 as managing director, before managing the sale of the business to Towergate in 2008.


Evolution Debbie Baker


Commercial underwriters Evolution Underwriting has appointed James Curtin as a commercial underwriter working within the New Business team. He was previously with Allianz. His responsibilities will include underwriting and servicing new business products to Evolution’s broker base.


Towergate Towergate has announced the


appointment of Peter Newson as managing director of Towergate Underwriting Financial Risk. He joins from Lloyds broker First City Partnership where he was a partner in the PI/FI division.


Brit Insurance


Brit Insurance has announced the appointment of Stuart Anderson as senior representative in its Australian representative office in Sydney. He joins Brit Insurance from Insurance Australia Group (IAG), where he held a number of senior roles. Most recently, he spent two years as senior manager of Reinsurance Underwriting, Australia. Prior to this, he was senior manager of Reinsurance Underwriting, International, also at IAG.


Ewen Gilmour Antares


Antares, the specialist Lloyd’s insurance business, has announced the appointment of Ewen Gilmour as non-executive director of Antares Holdings Limited, the group’s Bermuda based holding company. He has had a long career in the UK insurance sector, with a particular focus on the Lloyd’s market. He currently holds a non-executive director position at Xchanging Insurance Services, as well as being on the board of Antares Managing Agency Limited, which was formed in January 2010 to manage Syndicate 1274 and is a subsidiary of Antares Holdings Limited. In addition, he serves on the Council of Lloyd’s and has been a deputy chairman of Lloyd’s for four years. Ewen spent 11 years at Lloyd’s insurer Chaucer Holdings PLC, joining initially as finance director and serving as its chief executive from 1999 until his retirement in December 2009. Prior to Chaucer, he spent three years at Amlin PLC. Formerly a corporate financier with Charterhouse Bank, he moved to the Lloyd’s market in 1993 to help facilitate the introduction of corporate capital. He is a qualified chartered accountant and began his career at KPMG.


In his new role, he will support Mike Davidson in the marketing and promotion of Brit Insurance throughout the Australian and New Zealand markets, develop new and existing broker and cedant relationships and oversee customer service for the region. He will also be responsible for business analysis.


Stuart Anderson Chubb Chubb Insurance has


announced the appointment of Steven Ord as European accident and health manager. Based in London, he will head Chubb’s European accident and health business including its UK personal accident and business travel brand Peoplesure.


He begins his new role in July 2010 and has worked at Chubb since December 2001, most recently as the Australian head of personal and accident and health business. Before joining Chubb he worked for AIG in New Zealand and the UK .
