IAS has launched a new personal accident


product, the RIAS Broken Bones Cash Plan. It provides a lump sum payment of £400 if customers break a bone in an accident. There is no upper age limit and the plan is available to new and current RIAS Home Insurance customers as an additional cover option.


Cover can be for an individual or a couple. The cost is £15.96 a year per person. Key benefits include: no excess payable; no medical required; and no limit to the number of new claims that can be made during the policy.


One in two women and


one in five men can expect to suffer a bone fracture after the age of 50, says RIAS. Janet Connor, Managing Director of RIAS, comments, “Our Broken Bones Cash Plan is a welcome addition to our extensive product range, enabling us to offer high quality, value for money cover, protecting what’s important to our customers.”

Safeonline buys Samian L


loyd’s broker Safeonline LLP has acquired Samian Underwriting Agencies, the specialist intellectual property MGA. All staff and business will transfer into a new division within Safeonline, trading under the Samian Underwriting Agency brand, and Samian will continue to function as a true underwriting MGA representing various Lloyd’s syndicates and insurance companies. David Umbers, Partner at Safeonline, says, “We have always valued Samian’s expertise in this area and, by bringing it together with Safeonline’s distrubiton


platform, we look forward to seeing this division go from strength to strength.”


Ian Lewis, who becomes a Director of the new division, adds, “The Samian team look forward to providing brokers around the world with improved service, easier access to expertise and enhanced coverage and limits as a result of this acquisition.”


Samian will continue to focus on intellectual property risks, such as infringement liability, contractual indemnities, reps & warranties, enforcement risks and first party loss of revenue or asset value.

new emergency assistance service for SMEs claims to “elininate the time wasted waiting for contractors, thereby minimising property damage and ensuring business continuity”. Business Emergency


Assistance from Home 3 allows SMEs, in the event of plumbing, electricity or gas emergency, to access a 24-hour claims helpline connecting them to a specialist tradesman. In that call, the parties can arrange a suitable call-out time and are guaranteed service by the nearest quality-vetted tradesman.


The new product is recommended for retail at


between £399 and £599, with brokers offered up to 25% commission.
