New high efficiency inverter drives

Gefran’s new and exclusively designed ADL and AVRy lift drive invert- ers cover entry-level to advanced performance for power ranges up to 90 kW with emphasis on energy efficiency and application versatility. The drives offer reduced energy consumption and reduced CO2 emissions across the range

with regenerative ‘clean energy’ power recovery technology available with the AVRy versions. When compared to other lift drive designs,

the ADL series can increase system speed and reduce energy consumption and costs by up to 48 per cent as well as reduce CO2 emissions by up to 1,000kg/year. AVRy regenerative drives can further reduce energy consumption by an additional 42 per cent - for total savings of up to 90 per cent - with CO2

emissions

reduction up to 6,000kg/year.

Chain products

cut maintenance

Renold’s range of solution chain prod- ucts is helping to reduce maintenance and cut downtime on a wide range of industrial applications. Renold Synergy was designed to pro-

vide longer wear life on arduous appli- cations. Synergy is said to last up to six times longer than other products and it has been used on applications all around the world. Longer lasting chain not only reduces chain replacement costs, it also cuts downtime with the savings from longer lasting chain visi- ble within months or even weeks. On applications where lubrication is difficult or undesirable there is a self lubricating chain called Syno which has a specially designed sintered bush that contains all the lubricant. Stainless-steel chain is available for applications where corrosion might be a problem and Klik-Top polymer block chain features an innovative design for conveying applications. The Solutions range also includes

Sovereign chain for abrasive applica- tions where there is significant dust and debris that would cause a standard specification chain to wear. And finally there is Renold’s Hydro-Service chain treated with a series of coatings to protect against corrosion.

Direct drive torque motor now available

Introduced as a completely new category for Kollmorgen’s range of direct drive torque motors, the Cartridge DDR motor is now available from motion control spe- cialists Heason Technology. The innovative and compact design includes a hollow shaft rotor, a stator and high resolution feedback device, all pre- aligned in a bearing-less assembly and enclosed in a durable housing complete with power and feedback connectors. The motor is mounted on a prepared bolt-cir- cle on the customer’s machine and through a special compression coupling engages with a solid shaft to directly drive the load which is supported by its own bearing system. The Cartridge DDR

combines the high performance advan- tages of the frameless direct drive motor system with the convenience of a full frame torque motor. It is said to be com- petitively priced and simple to install.

Same day assembly service for gearmotors

With UK assembly at Nord Gear’s Abingdon facility for all cast aluminium Nordbloc.1 series gearmotors, and with the German assembly line now in full stream for larger cast iron sizes, Nord Gear now offers a same-day assembly and despatch service across its Nordbloc.1 range. This service ensures a rapid

turnaround for industrial heli- cal inline gearmotors from 90Nm to 3,200Nm torque output and motor powers up to 37kW. The Nordbloc.1 gearmotor

range was introduced by Nord in 2007 and has been expanded to nine sizes in a broad selection of foot and B14 or B5 face mount versions with standard and high efficiency IEC frame motors. Based upon the UNICASE gearbox design that

Nord Gear developed and improved upon over almost three decades, the Nordbloc.1 range features a one-piece housing and provision for larger and stronger bearings than competitive lines. These fea- tures provide increased internal shaft diameters and together result in higher strength and less deflection than fabricated gearbox designs - offering supe- rior overhung and thrust load capacity as well as improved gearbox lifetime. With minimal sealing required and built- in gear unit ventilation, the design helps extend lubricant life and elimi- nates any potential for oil leakage. For the aluminium-housed versions, the smooth finish provides a corrosion protection needing no paint. ATEX versions for hazardous environments are also available

Compact wheel drives are pick of the crop

Compact size, light- weight design and ability to accept directly-mounted standard wheel rims, are three of the major reasons why Brevini’s wheel drives were selected for use on an agricultural tea harvesting vehicle built in the UK. The Brevini wheel drive units are said to permit a

neater design solution than axle drives and provide greater clearance for rough terrain vehicles. The wheel drives incorporate a simple, but robust gear design and are supplied in pairs with a built-in hydraulic motor and mechanical braking available in left and right hand configurations. They use a compact planetary drive system which is designed for self propelled vehicles and are said to provide greater ground clearance on rough terrain than con- ventional drive systems that require a fixed axle.
