Introduction

Entering Number 10 in the unenviable role of unelected Prime Minister, Gordon Brown took over from Tony Blair in June 2007, just as the global economic crisis was beginning. As the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, he was an easy target for the flak from Britain’s involvement in the financial disaster and as the country struggled with the recession, Brown’s promise of “no more boom and bust” came back to haunt him.

As the election looms, Brown is hoping to get a clear mandate, so that he can continue along what he calls “the road to recovery.” But while the Labour Party points to its years of experience running the country, many feel let down by a series of policy changes, broken promises and political U-turns.

And as this book demonstrates, it seems that Brown doesn’t always stick to his word...

Take a look at the promises vs. the reality, or the truth behind the lies.
