THE REALITY:University budget cuts and frozen grants

On 1 July 2009 the Government announced that student grants have been frozen despite the 2.04% rise in tuition fees. This means that while tuition fees will increase to £3,290, the grant will remain at £2,906. Meanwhile university budgets are being slashed by more than £900m by 2013.
