Surrey success
With an iconic, art décor-inspired interior and exterior, a new leisure, conference, event and private dining venue has just entered the corporate market place. The 120- bedroom Brooklands Hotel and Spa, near the stockbro- ker and Chelsea footballers’ habitat of Cobham, Surrey, is adjacent to the world class attraction Mercedes Benz World, 30 minutes from London and a five minutes drive from the M25. Consequently, with pop concerts and clas- sical extravaganzas literally on its doorstep throughout the year it is a world away from the majority of corporate hotels. A lush interior, service and cuisine pandering to every taste, and meetings and banqueting facilities that incorporate the best of the 21st century await corporate visitors. There’s also eight individually designed, flexible meeting suites with the largest seating 175 theatre style.

EDINBURGH CELEBRATIONS
The Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, Edinburgh, is cele- brating its 25th anniversary this year with a multi-mil- lion pound refurbishment of all guest rooms and adding a new Grand suite and Executive Club floor. It’s set to be completed by July.
BOOST FOR BUDGETS
Travelodge, the budget hotel chain, is investing £115million on opening 26 hotels across Britain this year. Among them, three in Edinburgh, two in London and others in Newcastle, Aberdeen and Chester.
Grand events
Good news for all hospitality, events and meetings organisers over the border! Gosford House, an imposing, three-storey 19th century mansion set on spectacular coastline just 25 minutes from Edinburgh city centre, throws open its doors to the Scottish corporate market from next month. It’s a must venue for every contacts book. Available for exclusive hire and ideal for gala dinners seating up to 120, product launches, photo and film shoots, drinks receptions and team building events, says its management. Surrounded by 5,000 acres of woods and farmland it was built for the tenth Earl of Wemyss in 1800 and has an interior lush in architectural splendour. There’s an impressive marble hall and pic- ture gallery with a capacity for up to 300 guests, and a number of large balconies, with views of Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat and the North Sea, can be hired. Large scale activity days and highland games can be held in the grounds and for links golf enthusiasts Gosford’s award-winning Craigielaw club is nearby.
