Unique, Exciting, Interesting
If any of these words describes you and your attendants at
your big day, consider as your gift to them a gorgeous, one
of a kind necklace made with Kazuri beads. Kazuri means
small and beautiful in Swahili. Each bead is individually
hand crafted of clay by women in Kenya in a fair trade
agreement. With clay dug at the base of Mount Kenya, the
beads are formed in dozens of shapes by hand, then dried
and fi red once in a kiln. They are then glazed in colors that
bring to mind the colors and designs of the earth and sky
of Kenya.
I string the Kazuri beads on various different leathers, of-
ten using accent beads made of bone, wood, lava, or metal.
