GUESTS
AND
BUDGET
{AND HOW THEY ARE LINKED}
I’m a big believer in quality over quantity. I explain it to my clients like this: You
can have a big wedding with nary a memorable detail or a smaller wedding
packed with tons of fabulous personal elements. One will be just another pretty
but regular wedding and the other will be a wedding to remember! Which
would you rather have? Without fail, they choose the latter and I’m guessing
you do too! Well, our fi rst step in getting there is to be very choosy in creating
our guest list and then to manage our money as shrewdly as possible. Now, I
know that limiting the guest list can be easier said than done and also seem
irrelevant when you’re looking at your wedding budget and thinking “that’s
a lot of money! We can afford to have a huge wedding.” Well, as the voice
of experience, let me warn you that money is going to be spent very, very
quickly, so before that happens, let’s go over some tips on how to maximize
your list so that you can indeed have the wedding of your dreams!

TIP
Are you curious about who
traditionally pays for what?
• The bride’s family pays for the
bulk of the wedding including:
the invitations, the wedding
gown, and all reception costs.
• The groom and his family
pay for the rehearsal dinner,
the groom’s attire, the bride’s
ring, her wedding bouquet,
boutonnieres for men in the
wedding party, corsages for
mothers and grandmothers, the
marriage license, the offi ciant (or
church, synagogue or temple)
fees, and the honeymoon.
