Curriculum Leader of the Year
Shirley Bazdar is the recipient of the Virginia ASCD Outstanding Curriculum L eader Award for 2009.
Shirley is the Director of Career and Technical Education and Adult Education for Loudon County Schools. Colleagues from Loudon County praise Ms. Bazdar for her efforts to create 21st-century learning opportunities for students as well as to provide high- quality professional development for staff. Shirley has been instrumental in developing the instructional pro- gram for Loudon County’s Governor’s Career and Techni- cal Academy, an innovative program that has been vis- ited by national and international educators.
While facilitating cutting-edge programs in a large school division, Shirley has also built and maintained strong relationships with staff and students. Principals call her “part of the team,” noting her frequent presence in schools and her collegial relationships with teach- ers. We are pleased that Shirley is also a member of the VASCD team.
Congratulations to Shirley Bazdar, VASCD’s Outstanding Curriculum Leader of the Year!
