Disney’s Year to Volunteer
Disney’s US parks are launching a promotion to celebrate the spirit of volunteer
service and encourage families to volunteer in their communities.
The proposition is simple: “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day.” Up to one million
people who perform volunteer service for a participating organisation will receive a
free one-day admission ticket to a park of their choice at either Walt Disney World
Resort in Florida or Disneyland Resort in California.
During the past year, Disney has awarded free tickets to those celebrating
special moments such as birthdays as part of the What Will You Celebrate?
campaign. Now it is working with HandsOn Network, America’s largest volunteer
network, to encourage people to sign up for an eligible volunteer project.
HandsOn has 250 volunteer action centres across the United States and connects
volunteers to more than 70,000 non-profit agencies.
“Give a Day, Get a Disney Day fits perfectly with our long history of supporting
and participating in volunteer efforts,” notes Walt Disney Company president and
CEO, Bob Iger. “It’s a great way to honour guests who are making a positive
contribution to their communities.”
