So despite the crisis, the nano- and microtech market remains exciting.
Thomas Ilfrich
Over the last weeks, many research break- throughs have been published, e.g. a new high- performance anode structure based on silicon- carbon nanocomposite materials that could signi- ficantly improve the performance of lithium-ion batteries [ 6]. Researchers in Finland presented a process for advanced large-scale biomimetic materials and the results might be a breakthrough in this area [ 44]. Furthermore, two good old favourites from our Watchlist, Accelrys, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACCL) and Symyx Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMMX) have signed a merger agree- ment and will complete it by the end of June 2010.
We spoke to the CEO of Xidex Corporation, a company which manufactures and sells the na- nomanipulator called NanoBot™. The result is a interesting overview of their product and strate- gy that you can find in this edition [ page 08]. Another introduced company, AnCatt, invented a soluble and processable conductive polymer composite and is currently seeking partners to licensing this technology [ 12].
