First look Student Film Section
From its origins as a successful stand-alone film festival, the First Look
Student Film Section is now the official student film program at the
Starz Denver Film Festival. Established in 2001 by Wade Gardner and
Josh Weinberg – then students themselves – First Look sought to bring
to the screen works that might have otherwise never seen the light
of day (or rather the dark of the theater); the result of their efforts is
“arguably the best niche festival in Denver,” according to The Denver
special programs
Post in 2006. As the sole programmers, Gardner and Weinberg remain
special programs
as dedicated as ever to discovering the world’s most promising young
filmmakers.
