“
My favorite class is Introduction to PE Curriculum Materials with Professor Michael Gerich. He
taught us how to develop lesson and unit plans. Most importantly, he taught us that we had to
prove we had the skills and knowledge to be a physical educator. We had to prove every single skill
for every single sport. It showed me what my strengths and weaknesses were.
Finding Direction
I helped coordinate the Special Olympics at Windham Middle School with Professor Charles Wynn.
We worked together very closely so that Eastern student-athletes who wanted to volunteer would
shoot hoops with the Special Olympians. I loved it and immediately came back to campus and
looked up classes in adaptive physical education as another possible route. I want to give every kid
an opportunity that they might not get anywhere else. I want to take on that role-model position.
I want to be the structure that they don’t have in their lives.
Giving Is Receiving
I love reaching and setting my own goals,
