My name is Oliver “SHIZ” Roubieu and I created SHIZ in 2006.In 1997, I finished my art degree in France
where i grew up, then I spent a year in Paris. When I turned 18, I came to London, doing a thousand jobs
then going home to practice drawing. On occasions, I would go to the museum for hours to get better
at it, having as a goal to being able to draw anything that popped into my mind. In 2006 I designed a
clothing line (by that i mean 10 designs ) which I was selling in Portobello market for under a year.I soon
realised that people were more interested in getting their trainers or T-shirts customised, than buying my
t-shirts/ hoodys. So I started focussing only on the custom market as opposed to the “mass production”
and started airbrushing.
Here is a picture of the equipment I will be using for this panel pinup project including
Auto air paint. mini spray gun.
I started by painting a sheet of metal the size of a car door panel with perl-
ized blue Auto Air with my mini spray gun. Then when it was dry I airbrush the
outlines of my design using white with my 0.5 iwata eclipse airbrush.
In this image I introduced the first color of my skin tones, there are five colors
altogether. I just wanted to flood fill the all body at this stage so I can have a
general idea of the design and so it would give me a base to work on. For skin
tones I used Auto Air transparent blue mixed with red and yellow the primary
colors.
From this step I’m only focussing on the body. I started by adding the dark
skin tone and the light skin tone. At this stage I’m still working roughly and not
paying too much attention to the details, just making sure the proportions are
right and that the colors all work well together.
