After 10 weeks of collaboration in Spring 2008 with VTech, a world leader in cordless telephones and elec-
tronic learning products, SCAD industrial design students Ishmael Adams, Jesse Bizzoco and Austin Brown
received job or internship offers with the Hong Kong-based technology company.
VTech again sponsored a product development project with industrial design students in Spring 2009, in
which 12 students designed and created new products and services and the means to interact and engage
with content and services in the home. During a two-week trip to Hong Kong, students presented their
designs to senior management at VTech and visited leading design and product manufacturing compa-
nies in China. As a result students Lauren Peters and John Adams were offered six-month internships with
VTech in Hong Kong.
“Working with SCAD students gives our company a fresh perspective,” said David Waterman, senior design
manager for VTech. “SCAD students bring a certain passion and professionalism to their work, and they’re
able to hit the ground running when they graduate, putting them ahead of other design students.”
