Getting Involved
The level of membership exceeds the target the Foundation Trust set
itself at the start of the year. Members are drawn from the public
and staff. Public members are allocated to constituencies in
the geographical area in which they are resident. The
Foundation Trust will seek to grow its membership and
ensure it is representative of the local population.
Communicating with members
Keeping our members, patients, staff and the public
well informed is very important so that they can
contribute effectively to our development. We have
sought to ensure clear communication is established
between the Foundation Trust and our members,
building on successful past practice.
Our core communication objectives include:
• To inform patients, staff, local communities and the
wider public and opinion formers about the
Foundation Trust’s values and principles in order to
promote understanding, engender partnerships and
attract new members
• To ensure members receive appropriate
communication to improve their understanding
about the business of the Foundation Trust and its
relationship with their local communities
• To ensure communication is used to stimulate active
membership, including encouraging new candidates
for the Council of Governors.
